Blooming Onion Dip

Ingredients

  • 1 large onion
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Start by peeling the onion. Cut the top off and carefully slice it down into petals, but do not cut all the way through the base. This will create a blooming effect.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the sour cream, softened cream cheese, cheddar cheese, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until everything is well combined.
  3. Preheat your Blackstone grill to medium heat.
  4. Place the onion on a piece of aluminum foil. Gently pull the petals apart and fill each one with the cheese mixture. Make sure to pack it in so it doesn’t fall out.
  5. Wrap the onion tightly in the foil. Place it on the grill and close the lid. Cook for about 25-30 minutes, or until the onion is tender and the cheese is melted.
  6. Carefully remove the foil package from the grill. Unwrap it, being cautious of the steam, and transfer the onion dip to a serving dish. Sprinkle chopped green onions on top for a fresh touch.
  7. Serve warm with chips or veggies for dipping. Enjoy!
  8. Cook Notes and Beginner Tips
  9. Make sure to cut the onion carefully to keep the petals intact. If you don’t have Worcestershire sauce, you can substitute it with soy sauce for a different flavor. Always wear heat-resistant gloves when handling the foil package after grilling.
